Free Chat Rooms — Talk to Strangers by Country
Chat rooms
Free chat rooms, without an account
A chat room is an ongoing conversation you can walk into. Unlike random chat, nobody is matched with anybody — you pick a room, see who is already in it and start talking. Rooms stay open whether or not you are there, so the same room usually has different people in it at different times of day.
There is no sign-up. Choose a nickname, pick a room and you are in. Messages in a room are kept for 24 hours so somebody arriving later can follow the conversation, then they are deleted.
Country rooms and custom rooms
Country rooms are the busiest: they gather people from one place, which usually means a shared language and a shared time of day. You can see how the experience differs by country for India, Pakistan, the USA, the UK and Nigeria.
Anyone can join a custom room somebody else made; creating your own is a Pro feature, and the owner can appoint moderators and remove or ban people from that room. Rooms you like can be hearted and appear in a Favourites tab on your own device.
What keeps a room usable
The same automatic filter as the rest of the site runs on every room message — links, phone numbers and social handles are blocked, and so is flooding. Room owners and moderators can kick or ban somebody from their own room, and the Report button works in rooms exactly as it does in a one-to-one chat. See the community guidelines for what is not allowed and the safety guide for how to handle a conversation that turns.
Rooms, group chat or one-to-one?
Rooms are best when you want a conversation that carries on without you. Random group chat is the opposite — a fresh group of three to ten strangers formed on the spot, which ends when people leave. Random chat is one person at a time, and video chat adds camera and microphone. There is more on the differences in how free chat rooms work.
