How StrangerMeet Works
From opening the site to your first conversation, here's exactly what happens.
Visit StrangerMeet
There's nothing to fill in. No email, no password, no profile setup. Just open the site and start.
Start chatting
Click "Start Chatting" (or set a nickname, age, gender, and country first — all optional) and you're placed in a queue to be matched.
Get matched with a random stranger
As soon as another person is waiting too, you're connected 1-on-1. Matching is random — you don't choose who you talk to, and neither do they.
Have a conversation
Chat by text right away. If you both want to, you can also turn on photos, voice notes, or live video — every media permission starts switched off for both people and only turns on if each side explicitly agrees.
Skip or end whenever you want
"Next Stranger" disconnects you and starts a new match immediately. "End Chat" leaves you back at the start screen. Either one works at any point, for any reason — you never need to explain why.
What else you can do
Text, voice, photo & video
Every conversation starts as text. Voice notes, photos, and live video are optional extras either person can enable — never required to keep chatting.
Chat rooms
Prefer a group setting? Rooms let you join a country-based or global chat with several people at once, instead of a private 1-on-1 match.
Random video chat
Prefer to see who you are talking to? Video chat pairs you with one stranger on camera, with text and photos beside the call. Your browser asks before the camera turns on, you can mute or switch it off mid-call, and nothing is recorded — the call goes straight between the two browsers, encrypted, and never through our servers. Nobody can see your IP address either. No automatic filter can watch live video, so use the Report button if somebody misbehaves.
Random group chat
Want a crowd without picking a room? Random group chat puts you into a live conversation with 3 to 10 strangers at once, with text, photos and voice notes. A group starts as soon as 3 people are ready, and new people can join until it is full.
Mini-games
A few simple two-player games (like Rock Paper Scissors) are built in if you and your match want a lighter way to break the ice.
Favourite rooms
Tap the heart on any room to save it to your ♥ Favourites tab, so the rooms you actually use are one tap away. Free, and it works without an account — favourites live in your own browser.
Friends and direct messages
If a conversation goes well, you can send that person a friend request and carry on talking later. Both people need a free account, because an anonymous visitor disappears as soon as they close the tab. Direct messages are deleted automatically 24 hours after they are sent.
Reporting
Every chat has a Report button. If someone breaks the rules, reporting them feeds into a real moderation system — see the Safety page for details.
Talking to a random stranger is different from messaging someone you already know — a bit of preparation goes a long way. Read our safety guide before your first chat, or check the FAQ if you have a specific question.
