Random Chat — Talk to a Stranger
Random chat
What random chat on StrangerMeet actually is
Random chat pairs you with one other person who pressed the same button at roughly the same moment. There is no feed, no profile to fill in and no account to create — you type a nickname if you feel like it, press Find a Stranger, and you are talking to someone within a few seconds. When the conversation runs out, you press Next and meet somebody else.
Nothing from a random chat is written down. Messages are passed between the two browsers and forgotten, so there is no history to read back, delete or leak. That is also why you cannot return to a conversation after leaving it — the trade for being genuinely anonymous is that nothing is kept.
What you can send
Text, photos from your gallery, a photo taken in the app, a short video clip and voice notes. Anything beyond text stays hidden until the person receiving it allows that kind of media, and that choice is remembered on your own device rather than asked again in every chat. If you would rather see the other person, random video chat is a separate page with camera and microphone.
Talking to strangers safely
Every message passes an automatic filter that blocks links, phone numbers and social-media handles, because those are how a pleasant conversation turns into something else. You can report anyone mid-chat; three separate people reporting the same person within an hour blocks them automatically. Our safety guide covers what to share and what never to, and the community guidelines set out what gets someone removed.
Other ways to chat here
One-to-one is not the only option. Random group chat drops you into a live conversation with three to ten strangers at once, and free chat rooms let you join an ongoing country or topic room and stay as long as you like. If you want to see who you are talking to, try video chat.
New to this kind of site? How StrangerMeet works walks through a first conversation, and conversation starters helps if you freeze when a chat connects.
